Notice of Public Information Centre (PIC): Charlotte Street and the Urban Park Design Projects

The Project

The City of Peterborough (City), through their consultant AECOM, is undertaking design projects to
explore streetscapes and the urban park in the downtown area (please refer to Project Location
Plan below). These projects include:

  1. The detailed streetscape design of Charlotte Street west (between Park Street and Aylmer
    Street) which is also included in the ongoing Bethune Street Project;
  2. The conceptual streetscape design of Charlotte Street east (between Aylmer Street and Water
    Street) and George Street (east side between Charlotte Street and Simcoe Street) and
  3. The detailed design and construction administration of the Urban Park at the Louis Street
    parking lot.

Project Location Plan Map 

Changes to the public realm, including sidewalks, cycling lanes, street furniture, trees and
plantings, lighting, public art and programming are being considered as part of these projects. In
addition, the streetscape designs will consider parking and traffic flow along Charlotte Street and
Louis Street.

Public Information Centre

You are invited to attend a Public Information Centre (PIC) to meet with City staff and the
interdisciplinary consultant team of landscape architects, engineers and architects, to discuss these
projects. The PIC has been scheduled as follows:

Public Participation

Your participation in the planning and design of these projects is very important to the City. You are
encouraged to provide your comments by January 6, 2016, so that they may be considered by the
project team. Presentation materials for this meeting and other information regarding this project
will be posted on the City’s website as they become available ( Comments
