Event date: Friday, October 19, 2018, at 11:15 AM
Location: YES Shelter, 196 Brock St.

A ribbon cutting to mark the official completion of the mural, entitled Rebirth and Resilience, at the YES Shelter, 196 Brock St., will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:15 a.m.YES Public Art in Progress

The mural, by artists Caitlin Taguibao and Andrea Manica, is the latest project from the City of Peterborough Public Art Program.

Taguibao and Manica use images of strawberry plants and dandelions in different stages of life as metaphors for compassion, kindness and a belief that people can grow and change. The mural, comprised of 42 panels spanning 768 square feet, covers the entire east-facing brick façade of the YES Shelter.

The community will have the opportunity to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and be among the first to see the mural at this free public event.

The City of Peterborough Public Art Program produces contemporary artwork to enhance and animate public spaces, create landmarks and gathering places, and commemorate events and sites of historical significance. Public art murals on private sites in the City’s core are intended to generate interest and awareness of public art in the downtown.
