Local Government Week 2012


Local Government Week takes place across the province during the week of October 14, 2012. It is an opportunity for Ontario students, educators, the general public and municipalities to engage one another on how their communities work.

Mayor Bennett will proclaim Local Government Week in Peterborough on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at the Clonsilla Avenue Fire Station. A representative from MPP Jeff Leal’s Office will attend the proclamation. The public are invited to attend.

Local Government Week is a partnership between the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.The purpose of Local Government Week is to celebrate the important role that local government plays in helping to define the character, priorities, and amenities of Ontario’s communities.

To promote Local Government Week, the City of Peterborough will host an information display in the lobby at City Hall and offer tours each day from October 15-19, 2012 at the following locations;
• Peterborough Municipal Airport at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
• Peterborough Fire Services Station #3 Clonsilla Avenue between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
