Construction on the Hunter Street Bridge is nearing completion. The next step is to waterproof and pave the bridge deck.

The deck will be waterproofed in 2 stages and, due to the operational constraints and worker safety, it is necessary to close the bridge to public traffic during the waterproofing and paving process. One lane will be kept open for Emergency and Transit Vehicles only. To expedite the work and keep the closure period to a minimum there will be some night operations throughout the closure period.

The bridge will be closed to traffic, with the exception of Emergency and Transit Vehicles only, during the period from Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 6:00 am to Saturday, September 1, 2012 at midnight. If weather conditions prevent the work on these dates, the bridge closure and traffic detour period may have to be adjusted as necessary to allow completion of the work.

A detour route will be established which utilizes Armour Road, Parkhill Road and either George or Water Streets, however access to all local properties and businesses in the area will remain open.
