2017 National Access Week Celebration

Mayor Daryl Bennett has proclaimed the week of May 29, 2017 as National Access Week in the City of Peterborough.

The City of Peterborough Accessibility Office and the Council for Persons with Disabilities invite the community to celebrate National Access Week by attending the opening ceremonies.

Date: Monday, May 29, 2017

Time: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies including Award Announcements
         1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Time in My Shoes Activities

Place: Peterborough Square Mall, Lower Level
         340 George Street North, Peterborough

During the event, representatives from our local business community (Stu Harrison, CEO Peterborough Chamber of Commerce; Mike Skinner, CEO of the Innovation Cluster; Mary McGee, President of the Women’s Business Network, and Terry Guiel, ED of the Downtown Business Improvement Area) will share their experiences participating in a Time in My Shoes (TIMS) experiential program designed to bring a greater understanding and awareness about disabilities and universal accessibility.

Guests will enjoy performances from Imagine Studios and have the opportunity to participate in TIMS activities.

The winners of the Accessibility Champion Awards will be announced at 12:45 p.m., highlighting businesses, organizations and agencies with an outstanding commitment to improving accessibility for all members of our community.

The City and the Council for Persons with Disabilities would like to thank everyone nominated for their continued effort in creating an inclusive community for all.
