Education
The Crossing Guards of Peterborough play an integral role in our community. Crossing Guards are entrusted with the responsibility of assisting elementary school children in crossing the road to and from school safely.
Don’t Let Your Guard Down DVD has been developed to educate school children and parents on their role and responsibilities when crossing at a school crosswalk. The DVD will demonstrate how school children should conduct themselves when crossing with a crossing guard.
Attention Drivers
Please OBEY the School Crossing Guard. They are identified by their fluorescent orange safety vests and hand held flashing STOP signs. Provincial Law provides for fines up to $110.00 for drivers failing to obey the directions of the Crossing Guard.
- Slow down when approaching a school crossing zone
- We try to work with the flow of traffic and wait for breaks, but sometimes we have to make our own breaks to get the Children across the street
- If the Crossing Guard has their STOP sign raised indicating there intention to enter the roadway you must STOP
- Please remain STOPPED until all children have crossed safely and the Crossing Guard has exited the roadway
BE AWARE, BE PATIENT, BE COURTEOUS
