Skating & Hockey Programs

The City of Peterborough, Recreation Division is pleased to offer many Instructional Skating and Hockey Programs this spring, fall and winter.  Registration for spring & summer programs will began on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Simply click on the "Register Now" button to register today!

Northcrest Skating SchoolPower Skating Pic
This is an Instructional skating program for new and beginner skaters ages 4 to 10.  This program emphasizes basic "Learn to Skate" instruction. Northcrest Skating School is offered in the fall and winter sessions.

Parent & Tot Skating School
This is an Instructional skating program for new skaters ages 2 to 3.  Children will be taught to stand on their own, fall down and get back up on their own and basic forward skating. Parent & Tot is offered in the fall and winter sessions.

Power Skating Instruction
This is an instructional skating program for skaters with a minimum of 2 years of skating and hockey experience.  Balance, power, agility, speed and skill development are taught in this program with an emphasis on stride! This program is offered in two age categories, 8 to 10 and 11 to 13.  Programs are offered in the fall, winter and spring sessions. Power Skating Waiver - This must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the program.

Lorne Eakins Hockey School
This hockey school is for beginner hockey players ages 5 to 11 years of age.  It provides a fun and positive introduction to hockey that will spark a love for the game!  This program is offered in September each year.

Youth Ball Hockey League
This ball hockey league for youth ages 8 to 13 years of age looking for a fun, recreational environment.  The league consists of two age categories, each with four teams.  The league is also looking for volunteer parent coaches (successful police screening is required).  Please contact sfraser@peterborough.ca if you are interested in coaching.  This league is offered in the spring session.

Adult Recreational Hockey League
This league is open to men and women (18+) who are looking for a friendly recreational hockey league on Sunday nights.  A schedule will be distributed in advance, which will specify your games of either 9 pm or 10 pm.  The league is non-competitive, with no body contact or slap shots.  League runs from September to March each year.  Check out the current League Standings.
