Public Beaches, Wading Pools & Splash Pads

Supervised Beaches

Lifeguards at BeachThere are two City beaches open to the public for supervised swimming from June 29, 2018 to August 26, 2018.  Beavermead Beach on Ashburnham Drive and Rogers Cove on Maria Street will be supervised seven days a week, from 11 am until 6 pm.

The City of Peterborough, along with the Accessibility Advisory Committee have installed a beach access mat at Beavermead Beach.  The access mat is designed to enhance accessibility at the beach.  The mat provides a walkway across the sand, allowing for easier access to the water for everyone; including people who use wheelchairs and other mobility aids, as well as parents with strollers.

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit will be monitoring Beavermead and Rogers Cove Beaches in 2018. Water quality readings can be found on the Public Health website.  A flag/sign system will also be in place at the beaches to indicate the water quality. For further information, please call the Peterborough Public Health at 705-743-1000.

The Recreation Division provides supervised wading pools at four locations throughout the City. These small, shallow pools are suitable for young children to approximately 8 years of age. Wading pools will operate from June 29 to August 26, 2018, and will be supervised daily from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, seven days per week.
Please note: Children should not be left alone in the park without appropriate adult supervision - the wading pool program is not a babysitting service.
