Millennium Park
Designed for the new millennium, Millennium Park, adjacent the Otonabee River Trail, was opened in 2001 as a linear park along the shores of the Otonabee River. The area was designed as peaceful natural parkland amongst the hard surfaces of the downtown core. It actually went undiscovered for a time period until community events such as the Peterborough Ribfest, Taste of the Town and the Silver Bean Café began to attract considerable attention from visitors and residents. Today, Millennium Park is continually filled with friends of the park either relaxing with a cup of java and a special treat or simply enjoying the delightful sounds and attractions of a variety of special events taking place in the park. There is also a small meeting room at the park level and can be rented for small weddings, social teas, meetings and even bridal or baby showers. To find out more information or to reserve this facility, contact the Recreation Division at (705) 742-7777 ext. 1829.
The Upper Boathouse is home to the Silver Bean Café while the Lower Boathouse is home to PedalnPaddle, offering Kayak and Canoe rentals for those wishing to adventure out onto the waterway. For more information on the PedalnPaddle check out www.pedalnpaddle.ca
