Bring your baseball bat, ball, and glove, and check out any of the baseball diamonds in the city. Ball Diamonds are located at many parks and schools. Check out the Peterborough Parks page for more information.

Beach Volleyball Courts

Beavermead Park off of Ashburnham Drive is home to two beach volleyball courts.  Grab a volleyball and your friends and head to the courts for a friendly game of volleyball and then cool off at Beavermead beach. Check out the Beach Volleyball Courts page for more information.

Frisbee Golf

Located right next to the Peterborough Riverview Park and Zoo. This is a great free activity for the whole family. Bring your Frisbee and play the 9-hole course. The game is played by the same rules as golf but instead of hitting the ball into the hole, you throw the Frisbee into a specially designed basket. For more information check out their website.


If you and your friends are in the mood to play lacrosse head over to the Knights of Columbus Park to the Legacy Bowl on Park Street South located near Chamberlain Street.

Skating on the Canal

During the winter months there is skating available on the Trent Severn Waterway at the Trent Canal. Please visit the City Hall Bulletins for information on the ice conditions.


There are numerous soccer fields around the city. Bring your soccer ball and feel free to play with your friends and family. The soccer fields are located at many public parks and local schools. Visit the Peterborough Parks page for more information.


The Tennis courts around the city are free for the public to use. Bring your racquet and tennis ball and enjoy a competitive or leisurely game of tennis. For more information, please visit the Tennis Courts page. 

West 49 Skateboard Park

The Peterborough West 49 Skateboard Park, located at 560 McDonnell Street, is an open free-use facility for skateboard users.  The park measures 8,400 square feet and includes 22 ramps and is open from May to November each year.
