Del Crary Park large crowd picture

This beautiful park is located in Peterborough's downtown and has become a focal point for tourists and residents over the past 30 years. Permitting Process:

The City of Peterborough is pleased to offer more than 103 public parks to its residents and visitors for recreational play and passive enjoyment. Please note that confirmations for Parks will not be returned through emails or telephone calls. The Permitting process states that all bookings must have a completed Request form that is sent to the Recreation Division for review. Staff will check the availability of the venue on the date requested. The Recreation staff will then  process the rental booking and the user will receive a Contract Agreement, which must be signed and returned to the Recreation Division. At this time payment must also be made. Once the signed agreement is received and the payment made, then the rental booking will be confirmed. This process is for all Permitting bookings, in City facilities.

Special Occasions Permits

To serve alcohol you must apply in writing at least 10 weeks in advance of your event to the Recreation Division.  You will need to obtain a Special Occasion Permit with the Liquor Licensing Board of Ontario and follow the Municipal Alcohol Policy requirements.  A copy may be obtained through the Recreation Division office.

Smoking:

Please note that all City Parks are smoke free. As of July 1, 2018, this will also include vaping and medicinal marjuana. Smoking in parks could result in a $305.00 fine, as Peterborough Police and Public Health Tobacco Enforcement officers will be enforcing the rules in parks this summer.

Street Closure Application

If your event set-up requires the streets in the immediate park area be temporarily closed, you must:

  • Identify the road closure in your Permit request
  • Obtain a street closure application from the Clerk's Office at City Hall
  • Submit copy of written approval to the Recreation Division office

Site Visits

A site visit may be required by the Recreation Division with a representative from the Special Event, in order that all details and arrangements for your event can be reviewed and discussed on-site. The Permitting Recreationist will make the arrangements for a meeting, prior to the event.

Refunds and Cancellations

If an organizer cancels their event 2 weeks prior to their event date, they will receive a refund. If an organizer cancels their event within the 2 week period before their event date, there will be no refund.
