2017 Summer Sports Camps

The Recreation Division in partnership with many local sport organizations, are offering the following Summer Sports Camp Programs in 2017!

Youth Basketball Camp
Basketball Camp  Description:

Basketball Camp is a fantastic instructional program for youth!   This skill development program will focus on individual and team oriented basketball skills, shooting and passing, offensive and defensive concepts, sport and physical conditioning, and of course game play!  This camp is a great opportunity to learn and develop important skills in the sport of basketball.  Instruction and leadership provided by Craig Muir.

Age Groups:

Grades 5 to 7 or Grades 8 to 10

Football Camp
Football Camp  Description: This camp will focus on training and techniques for offensive and defensive players, as well as team strategies.  The Kawartha Football Officials will also provide instruction on amateur football rules and regulations.  Camp instruction is led by the Kinsmen Minor Football League.  Added features will include a punt, pass and kick contest, as well as a week ending game.  All activities are of a non-contact nature.

8 to 13 years

Junior Tennis Camp
Tennis Camp  Description: This half-day tennis camp will develop hand-eye coordination, teach basic stroke skills and introduce the fun of game play, all on the high quality clay tennis courts of the Quaker Park Tennis Club. Tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by all throughout life to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.  Camp instruction is led by certified Quaker Park tennis instructors. Racquets available.

9 to 16 years

Youth Soccer Camp
Soccer Camp 2
Description: The youth soccer camp offers several different age and skill categories (listed below).  In the spirit of fair play and fun, the Peterborough City Soccer Club is always looking to expand and develop the Camp to new levels of fun and excitement.  Full day camp includes a lunchtime trip to Rogers Cove to swim (water quality depending) and use the splash pad.
Age/Skill Groups: Micro (Half Day) - Age 5/6

Mini - Age 7-9

Development - Age 10/12

"Just Girls" - Age 7 to 14

Rep - U8 to U16

Goalkeeping - 9 to 14

Ultimate Sports Camp
Ultimate Sports Camp  Description: This camp will introduce campers to rugby as well as some exciting sports they may have never experienced!  The camp will feature instruction in non-contact rugby each morning, and a "new" sport each afternoon. Besides rugby, the week may include sports such as; archery, giant-ball soccer, cricket, disc golf, ultimate frisbee, tennis, Aussie rules football, and basketball. Two off site bus trips will be planned each week to local sport facilities. Instruction is led by the Peterborough Rugby Club.

8 to 14 years

Ultimate Sports Camp - NO LIMITS!
Ultimate Sports Camp 1  Description: This camp follows a similar format to the Ultimate Sports Camp format with non-contact rugby each morning and a "new" sport each afternoon.  The camp will take two "off-site" trips during the week, one of which will include Tree Top Trekking/Zip Lining in the Ganaraska Forest. 

9 to 14 years

Note: must be 9 years old and stand 55 inches tall to participate in the Tree Top Trekking experience.
Tree Top Trekking Waiver is required to be completed 2 weeks prior to the start of camp.  Please email completed waiver to

All Summer Camp participants must have a completed health form returned to the Recreation Division two weeks prior to the beginning of camp.

To Register...

  • Call the Recreation Division at 705-742-7777 ext. 1873 and register over the phone with a credit card.

  • Drop by the Recreation Division at 210 Wolfe between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm and register in person.  Drop by the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre at 775 Brealey Drive during their current facility hours posted on their website and register in person.

  • Register Online through the online registration system recServe, or by clicking on one of the camps listed above.  If you choose this option you must have an account pin # and barcode.  If you do not have an account pin # or barcode simply call the Recreation Division to set up your account information.
