What's New at Transit

Public Consultation on Community Bus Route Options

Starting early March 2018, Peterborough Transit will have a Community Bus Route serving malls, grocery stores, seniors’ homes, medical clinics and the hospital.  The community bus will be available to all residents and is designed to provide an additional transit option for people that normally use the Handi-Van or find using the regular bus challenging.  The service will use a mini bus that has no stairs and has seats for 10 to 15 passengers, plus four spots for wheelchairs.  The service will operate Monday through Sunday from 9:20 am to 5:20 pm.  The route frequency will be hourly.

Through public consultation in the summer of 2017, transit users indicated many places that they would like to go on the Community Bus.  Two potential routes have been created using this community feedback.  Now, Peterborough Transit is soliciting input on which route option future users of the community bus prefer.

Details about the community bus route options are on-line here, at the Transit Terminal and will be at the Community Counter of Lansdowne Place on Thursday, January 18.  Let Peterborough Transit know which route option you prefer by filling out the survey on-line  or in print at the Transit Terminal.   The route options are described orally in the on-line survey, as well as visually.  Copies of the survey will be at the Lansdowne Place display as well.

To allow enough time to tabulate the survey results prior to the service beginning, all surveys should be submitted by Friday, January 26.  Once the route has been finalized, the map and schedule for the Community Bus service will be posted on the Peterborough Transit pages of the City website.
