What's New at Transit

Public Consultation on Community Bus Route Options Completed

The public consultation on route options for the Community Bus is now completed.  Option 1 was significantly more popular than Option 2.  Now, staff are working on setting up the map, stops and schedule.  The Community Bus service is scheduled to begin on March 4, 2018.

The Community Bus Route will serve malls, grocery stores, seniors’ homes, medical clinics and the hospital.  It will be available to all residents and is designed to provide an additional transit option for people that normally use the Handi-Van or find using the regular bus challenging.  The service will use a mini bus that has no stairs and has seats for 10 to 15 passengers, plus two spots for wheelchairs.  The service will operate Monday through Sunday from 9:20 am to 5:20 pm.  The route frequency will be hourly.

Once set, the map and schedule will be posted here and on the Community Bus page.

Statutory Holiday Service

Holiday Service will be provided on the following days in 2018: Family Day (February 19th), Good Friday (April 13th), Victoria Day (May 21st), Canada Day (July 1st), Peter Robinson/Civic Holiday (August 6th), Labour Day (September 3rd), Thanksgiving (October 8th) and Boxing Day (December 26th).

The "Holiday Service" schedule runs (every 40 minutes) from 8:00 a.m. until 7:20 p.m. on all 12 regular bus routes and 2 handi-vans; the customer service window is open from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. and from 1:15 pm until 4:00 p.m.
