New To Transit?
Welcome to Peterborough Transit! We serve most places within the City of Peterborough from Monday to Sunday.
To get started, we recommend that you browse through the different sections of this website to familiarize yourself with our services. Then, get a Peterborough Transit map from the transit terminal on Simcoe Street or on one of our buses. The map is also available on this website for viewing only.
Using the transit map, mark where you need to take the bus from and where you are going to. Look at what bus route is closest to where you are starting your trip. If you are unsure of the time the bus will get to the stop you are starting from, call Peterborough Transit at 705-745-0525. You may have to transfer to a different bus route at the terminal to get to your destination. Note that the express services to Trent, Fleming College and the Technology Drive area have their own separate maps and schedules. Everyone can ride the express buses, regular fares apply.
When you get on the bus, go the door closest to the driver. You can pay an exact fare or use a prepaid transit pass, available for sale at the Transit Terminal on Simcoe Street and at Lansdowne Place. When you are approaching the stop where you want to get off the bus, pull the cord running along the windows and "Stop Requested" should show up on the sign at the front of the bus.
Peterborough Transit buses are fully accessible with wide doors and no stairs, including a ramp for those that need it. Strollers are permitted on the bus, but bicycles are not. Pets are permitted on the bus if placed in a secure pet cage.
If you need assistance with figuring out what routes to take, we are happy to help. Come in person to the transit terminal M-F from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or give us a call at 705-745-0525. The bus drivers are very helpful as well.
