The Crossing Guards of Peterborough

Crossing Guard Flyer PageWelcome to The Crossing Guards of Peterborough!  We are employees of the City of Peterborough and are sanctioned under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act to direct children across a public highway at a designated school crossing. Our mandate is to assist elementary school children in crossing the road to and from school safely. The Crossing Guards of Peterborough have been entrusted with this responsibility since 1965. The Crossing Guards of Peterborough are a team of approximately 41 Guards, serving 22 schools across the city. Crossing Guards play an integral role in our community working hard to ensure the security of Peterborough’s school children.

Crossing Guards communicate well with children and have the fortitude that is necessary to brave the elements. The Crossing Guards of Peterborough are an important component of the Safe Routes to School Program which makes communities safer for students to walk and cycle to school. During your visit to our website you will find information such as Guard times, crossing locations, special events, employment opportunities and much more. It is our hope that you will find this web site user friendly and very informative. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
