Postal Strike Update

Due to the end of the postal disruption, Social Services deliveries to Canada Post will resume normal operations. All client and vendor payments and/or statements and letters will be mailed unless other arrangements are made with your case manager.

Peterborough Employment Resource Centre (PERC) is now offering Tech Help Tuesdays. Every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. in the Peterborough Employment Resource Centre.

A Roof Over My Head

From March 20 - 23, 2018 over 80 volunteers conducted a homelessness count in Peterborough City and County. For more information or to better understand the needs of people experiencing homelessness, check out a summary of the results or view the full report "A Roof Over My Head". 

Changes to your Ontario Works Statement of Assistance

Beginning in August 2018 family members eligible for Ontario Works will be listed on your monthly Statement of Assistance, to help loved ones receive community supports like bus passes. Also in August, you can begin to use your Ontario Health card to access health benefits like eye exams and prescription drugs. Paper cards will no longer be issued. Income Reporting Changes

Starting in May, your income reporting statement will look different. If you have earnings to report, you will only need to report your gross and net pays. For more details please read the Ministry Fact Sheet.

New Ontario Works Changes

Included in the 2018 budget are new increases to these Discretionary Benefits effective January 2018:

  • The maximum payment for upper or lower dentures has increased from $750 to $850
  • The maximum payment towards adult vision care (frames and lenses) has increased from $250 to $350
