Ontario Energy Board Changes Affecting Peterborough Utilities Services (October 1, 2011)
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has regulated changes that must be implemented by Peterborough Utilities Service (PUS) effective October 1, 2011. These changes are:
- clients that are considered "Designated Low Income Clients" by the OEB are no longer required to pay security deposit on new accounts for electricity (they will still have to pay a deposit for water/sewer).
- OW and ODSP clients are considered "Designated Low Income Clients".
- Clients who are also not in receipt of OW or ODSP but their income is $19,999 + 15% (Low Income Cut-Off LICO) may also be eligible. These clients would be seen by our Emergency Intake workers and HRC.
- "Designated Low Income Clients" are also eligible for new payment due dates when they sign-up for Equal Billing. Clients must be on equal billing to benefit from these dates at this time.
Process:
- Ontario Works clients who are applying for new service through PUS will have to submit a form (to be distributed when received by PUS). This form must be completed by their case worker (or HRC). They will sign it and the case worker will fax the form to PUS.
- If you wish to benefit from the new payment due dates you will need to sign up for Equal Billing. They will then contact your case manager who will send through the forms as outlined above.
