Homelessness Priorities 2011 - Community Conversations

Homelessness Priorities 2011- Community Conversations

In early 2011 the  United Way and the City of Peterborough Social Services Division started a joint effort to identify the priorities for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) Community Plan and the Consolidated Homelessness Prevention Program (CHPP) service plan.

To meet the needs of the CHHP and HPS planning processes, the community priorities for homelessness were reviewed and ranked. After conversations with many committees and individuals the following list reflects the revised community homelessness priorities for 2011:

1.       Outreach, support and aftercare

2.       Transitional housing

3.       Building community capacity

4.       “Housing First” approach with supportive housing

5.       Affordability gap

6.       Public awareness and community support

7.       Housing retention

8.       Stable emergency housing

9.       Training of staff

10.   Physical changes in the hostels

The full document to report  back to the community on the results of the homelessness planning process is available here.

We are always interested in feedback related to the prioritiy setting process. If you have any comments on the process, please submit them in the following section.
