I Count Peterborough!

Tonight in Peterborough the United Way, in partnership with the City & County of Peterborough, will be conducting a Point-in-Time Count to better understand the needs of those experiencing homelessness in our community.

Are you couch surfing, sleeping outside or homeless? We would like to talk to you to help us complete a short housing and homelessness survey. You will receive a gift card for taking the time to answer. Volunteers will be found in select locations as well as on the streets to conduct surveys. Survey centers will also be set up Wednesday March 21, 2018 to Friday March 23 with a special Youth event on the 21st. Please check out our Survey flyer and Youth Event Poster to find a location and time that best suits you.

Because in Peterborough, everyone counts!

Unlocking Hope Series:

“Suzie” is a survivor.

She is a survivor of domestic abuse, but she was also charged with assault when she fought back. She was badly beaten, scared and left with her own criminal record when she fled the relationship. She went through years of counselling and unemployment and needed to apply for social assistance.

She met her Ontario Works employment counsellor in March of last year. Looking for work was a challenge for Suzie because she often didn't have the “right” qualifications and her criminal record got in the way.

Need Food?

You are not alone!

"Over 300,000 people in Ontario have had to rely on local food banks for nutrition. In Peterborough, over 9,000 other people, just like you don't have enough to eat."
