The Land Information Services (LIS) of the City of Peterborough have developed an Internet based mapping application that allows users to navigate the city by spatial queries such as Search by Address. Continued development of new searching tools is ongoing. Stay tuned.

The AutoDesk MapGuide Viewer is required to operate this application. The viewer will be downloaded to your computer the first time you use this application. This download may consume 15 minutes or more depending on your internet connection, but will not be necessary for subsequent visits to this web site.

First time users can download the MapGuide Viewer now. Follow the prompts for installation. Return to this page and load the map.

For those users who have an older version of MapGuide Viewer on their computer, you will have to update to the latest version, Release 6.3.

NOTE: If you are using a dial-up connection, please be patient when downloading the Viewer and when the initial map appears.

How To Use This Mapping Application

Mouse over the tool icons in the toolbar to navigate the City of Peterborough map. You can access any of the available map functions (like Zoom-In and Search) by clicking on the tools located above the map area.

Tool Icon	Description
	Zoom-in Click in the map area or click and drag a box in the intended area to zoom to a specific locaton.
	Zoom-out Click in the map area or click and drag a box in the inteded area to zoom-out from the current view.
	Previous View Click in the map area to return to the previous view of the map.
	Overview Click in the map area to return to the extents of the map.
	Pan Click once in the map area, hold and drag the map in any direction.
	Pointer Select map objects in the map area.
	Print Click to print the current map view.
	Search Click to search by address. This will bring up a window.

Why Can't I See The Map?

You have to install the MapGuide Plug-in. The AutoDesk MapGuide Viewer is required to operate this application. The viewer will be downloaded to your computer the first time you use this application. This download may consume 10-15 minutes, but will not be necessary for subsequent visits to this web site. Download the MapGuide Viewer now. For users who have an older version of MapGuide Viewer on their computer, you will have to update to the latest version.

NOTE: At this time, Netscape users are not supported. Also, your computer must be running, at least, Windows 98. If you are still having problems viewing the map, please contact us.

How Do I Use The Search Tool?

Select the Search Icon on the Toolbar. A pop-up window will appear. Enter the address in the fields provided and click the Execute button. The resulting query should return your address information and details on voting district, the results of the Municipal Election 2003 and a text link to view more voting details. In the background, the map area will shift to the address. When the user clicks on the Voting Details link, another pop-up window will appear with additional voting reults.

How Do I Use The Search By Park Query?

Select a park from the Search by Park menu list. The map area shifts to the selected park location.
