The Culture Council

On April 23, 2012 City Council adopted a Municipal Cultural Plan for the City of Peterborough. One of its signature objectives is the creation of a community based Culture Council that would support the efforts of cultural producers and highlight the value of creativity in building community prosperity.

On April 28, 2012 a public visioning forum was held at the Evinrude Centre. During the day long workshop a rough framework for the Council emerged and a group of volunteers agreed to be part of an Interim Steering Committee to drive the process forward. This group has met several times and conducted extensive research on potential models for the new Council. On June 20, 2012 the City held a public Open House to present the findings of the Interim Steering Committee, and outline a proposed model for the Culture Council.
