| Countdown to the 2010 Peterborough Municipal Election: |
The Municipal Election will be held Monday, October 25, 2010.
We are excited to have been the first municipality in Canada to offer both Internet Advanced Voting and Vote Anywhere Technology using real-time voters’ list in the 2006 Election. We will again be using this technology in the 2010 Election.
Internet Voting: No long line-ups, no traffic, no bad weather days, vote from anywhere in the world!
Vote Anywhere: Out shopping? Vote on your way home. On your lunch hour? Vote near the office. It doesn't matter where....you can vote your way on Election Day.
Voter turnout for the 2006 Municipal Election was an amazing 48.04%. Our goal for 2010 is to have as many people as possible vote using our new technology.
The information on this website is intended to provide relevant details to electors and candidates on the election process. This website will continue to expand as the election approaches.
Voting - It's your way to have your say
Municipal governments provide many services that are of immediate concern to citizens. These include, but are not limited to: community and social services, parks and recreation, water, sewer, waste management, essential services such as police and fire protection, road maintenance, traffic management and land use decisions. Municipalities play a major role in determining the character and prosperity of the community.
Voting is a fundamental right of democracy. When you vote, you are selecting representatives who will make the laws and policies that determine how our City functions and how we live together.
