Community Consultation

Throughout the talkPDI campaign, the City provided residents with the following opportunities for providing their feedback.  

Hydro One has informed the City and PDI that they will not proceed with negotiations. Additional details are available in Report CAO 18-003 Peterborough Distribution Inc. Divestment to Hydro One,  presented to City Council sitting as General Committee on March 26, 2018.

Public Open Houses

Residents were invited to drop into any of 7 Public Open Houses held throughout the month of November (2016) to view details of the proposed offer and discuss directly with City representatives. The Open Houses were held throughout the City of Peterborough and in Lakefield and Norwood. Comment cards were available to collect feedback.

Community Pop-Ups

Pop-Up Booths were held at public events and venues throughout the City to distribute information of the offer and collect feedback from the community. Pop-ups were held at: the Evinrude Centre; Mapleridge Senior Centre; Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre; the Peterborough Square; Chapters bookstore; and at a Petes game at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Online Comment Card

Community feedback was received online by completing an electronic comment card between October 31, 2016 and November 18, 2016. 

Twitter Town Hall

#talkPDI Twitter Town Hall took place November 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Telephone and Email 

To connect with residents who are not online, a telephone extension provided an opportunity to hear a list of Public Open House dates or to leave a voicemail message with feedback.  Feedback was also received by email.

Special Meetings of Council

A special public meeting of Council was held on November 24, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Market Hall, 140 Charlotte Street. This provided members of the public with the opportunity to provide comment and ask questions at this special meeting.

A special Committee of the Whole meeting was held December 7, 2016 at Showplace Peterborough to enable Council to debate the Hydro One offer to buy PDI.

Council met on December 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Market Hall, 140 Charlotte Street, to ratify recommendations from the December 7th Committee of the Whole meeting regarding the Hydro One offer to buys PDI.
