talkPDI

Update on talkPDI community engagement:

On October 31, 2016, Peterborough City Council received a recommendation from City of Peterborough Holdings Incorporated (COPHI) regarding the potential sale of Peterborough Distribution Inc. (PDI) to Hydro One.

An extensive community consultation took place throughout the month of November to inform City residents and PDI customers in Norwood and Lakefield of the details of the offer from Hydro One, and to receive community feedback.

To engage as many citizens as possible, the community consultation included a wide variety of opportunities that began on Monday, October 31, 2016.

The City held 15 separate talkPDI events and created a dedicated telephone number and email to receive public feedback.

In total, 777 participants attended the in person events and over 900 separate comments were received.

In addition to the in person events, the City received 163 comments through the website, 34 by voicemail and 325 via social media.

During a special Committee of the Whole meeting on December 7, 2016, City Council voted 6-5 in favour of selling PDI to Hydro One.

The vote will need to be ratified by council at a special Council meeting on December 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Market Hall.
