Arena Labourer Online Application

We are currently accepting applications for the seasonal, part-time position of Arena Labourer.  

The Arena Labourer will assist with ice maintenance and cleaning, general repair, and maintenance tasks that include: sweeping; mopping; painting; carpentry and minor plumbing repairs for the building.

We require individuals who have a minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent in addition six (6) months labouring experience including knowledge of proper cleaning procedures as well as maintenance and construction practices.  The successful candidates will have excellent verbal communication skills, effective customer relation skills and be trustworthy and dependable.  Candidates must have experience and knowledge of proper work procedures including familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).

This position requires that the incumbent wear work boots at all times (to be purchased at their own cost).

This position will work a variety of different shifts including evenings and weekends to a maximum of 24 hours/week at any of the City’s arenas including the Peterborough Memorial Centre, Evinrude Centre, Kinsmen or Northcrest Arena.  The start and end times for shifts could be as early as 6:00 a.m. or as late as 2:00 a.m.

Hourly rate: $11.61

Successful candidates will be required to provide a current criminal reference check with vulnerable sector check, as a condition of employment offer.  The check will be completed at the candidate’s own expense and must be current.
