Carnegie Functional Planning Study

In 1998 T.M. Robinson Associates completed a functional planning study for the Carnegie Planning Area. The purpose of a functional planning study is to comprehensively review the major planning issues affecting an area before it is developed in order to allow for the creation of land use designations and policies to guide its future development.

As the project manager, T.M. Robinson Associates lead a multi-disciplinary team of sub-consultants to investigate issues related to:

  • natural environment features;
  • groundwater and soil conditions;
  • stormwater management;
  • transportation planning;
  • municipal servicing; and,
  • land use planning.

The Carnegie Functional Planning Study was received by Council sitting as Planning Committee on October 19, 1998. The study documents opportunities and opportunities affecting the future land use potential for the Carnegie area and makes recommendations with respect to future land use planning in the area. Information contained in the study is intended to be used as the basis for a City-initiated Secondary Plan for the Planning Area.
