Community Consultation
When the City of Peterborough is considering a project of significant public interest, the City identifies and notifies interested parties in a timely manner and provides these individuals and groups with sufficient information so that they can meaningfully consider the project. At the same time, City provides an opportunity for interested parties to make their views known.
The process and structure of consultation varies depending on the project, the context, aim and issue(s). Community or public consultation may take a variety of forms such as public notices, direct mail, media releases, invitations on the Website, community meetings, and public surveys. Any combination of these may be used to best reach the community who are interested and/or affected by the project.
The City of Peterborough, through City Council, considers the input it receives from public consultation in the context of other factors such as budgetary constraints and available resources, and ultimately makes decisions in the best interests of the citizens.
