Morrow Park Invitation

R.A. Morrow Park is a significant municipally owned park that was acquired from the Morrow Trust. The park is located within the area of Park, Lansdowne, and Lock Streets and a residential area along McGill Street. The park currently possesses eight (8) buildings that include:

  • The Morrow Building, a multipurpose facility that houses the Peterborough Exhibition, Peterborough Farmer’s Market, Flea Market, Trade Shows, and a few other miscellaneous events;
  • Two horse barns which are used during the Peterborough Exhibition and as storage for the remainder of the year;
  • The Bicentennial Building, which is presently leased to the Kawartha Gymnastics Club;
  • The Peterborough Agricultural Society Office building;
  • The Morrow Lounge, which is presently leased to the Discovery Montessori Schools Inc.; and
  • The Grandstand, which is a structure with a capacity to hold approximately 2,200 people that is used by the Exhibition for their annual event as well as for two or three other outdoor events annually.
  • The Peterborough Memorial Centre, a sport and entertainment centre, which is home to the OHL Peterborough Petes, the Peterborough Figure Skating Club, Peterborough Lakers Lacrosse, minor sport leagues, major concerts and events.

Memorial Centre Master Plan 3D ImageAlso on the grounds of the park are four (4) developed slo-pitch diamonds, a straight portion of a track area used for events, and parking (both paved and gravel lots).

The park property, including greenspace, parking and buildings, is approximately 24 acres and provides a combination of passive and active recreation along a major thoroughfare (Lansdowne Street) of the city. Surrounding land uses include residential, commercial/business, and churches.

The Master Plan will identify compatible uses that complement the proposed
design and use of the Park and provide strategic direction to the City to review and refresh agreements in place at Morrow Park with a 20-year, forward-looking perspective.

The Plan will also review the future of all fields, facilities and structures, including the Memorial Centre, and make recommendations that will ensure that facilities support both the passive and active recreation needs of the community.
